Four Centuries of History in Chateauneuf-du-Pape The Chateau de Nalys was acquired by the Guigal family in 2017. It enjoys an exceptional position in the heart of the appellation opposite the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and its famous Papal Palace. This is one of the oldest properties of the appellation, referenced in the land register already at the end of the 16th Century. The famous 13 grape varieties of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation are carefully cultivated here. There are three plots surrounding the Chateau, the first of which takes the name of the estate: “Nalys” and the others sit on two of the great terroirs of the appellation: “le Bois Senechal” and “La Crau”. Discovering the wines of Nalys Strengthened by four centuries of history, the wines of the Chateau de Nalys are the expression of an exceptional terroir. For many years, the vineyards have been carefully looked after in accordance with the exacting methods of sustainable viticulture. Conscious of the rich history and traditions of this prestigious appellation, the culture of the thirteen grape varieties is maintained with care and rigour. This jewel of the south is managed under the keen eyes of Marcel and Philippe Guigal, who are so passionately involved in the making of the Nalys’ wines.

 "2016 marks the first bottling of de Nalys under the Guigal umbrella and this intensely ripe but pristine wine makes a promising debut. It’s luscious but elegant, loaded with rich black-plum and cassis flavors firmed by piquant hits of licorice and pepper. Silky tannins make it approachable already but the wine should improve through 2036 and hold further still." (Dec 2019)

"This is a fleshy and dense offering, with layers of warm cassis, plum sauce and cherry preserve flavors seamlessly entwined, while warm fruitcake and melted red licorice notes fill in through the finish.
